If you are interested in joining the Constructing Peace Campaign, here are ways to support this effort. Contact us for help planning any of these actions.

1. Organize people in your community to run one of the Constructing Peace Campaign’s ad in your local newspaper. In this way, you help educate people about the issue of house demolitions and its relationship to the Occupation. You can also use the ad to raise money for ICAHD-USA and/or for your local peace efforts.
2. Organize people in your community to rebuild a house in Palestine as part of this campaign. The cost of rebuilding a Palestinian home is $5000; we encourage you to enlist individuals, organizations, churches, synagogues, and temples to contribute to a joint effort to rebuild a home. In this way, you build bridges across the community (or reinforce relationships that already exist) as you educate people about the issue of house demolitions and the Occupation.
3. Run an ad for the purpose of raising funds to pay for a house.
4. Organize a delegation to visit your Representatives and Senators and ask them to use their influence to stop the inhumane policy of house demolitions. Whether you succeed or not, you will have an opportunity to raise the issue of U.S. complicity in the ongoing Occupation and the policy of house demolitions.
5. Host an ICAHD-USA house party. We’ll help you organize your party by providing preparatory materials and fact sheets, a DVD film to show your guests or a live slideshow by Tom Stern and Tema Okun, donation forms, etc. In fact, we’ll do everything we can to help except provide the food, drink…and the friends!
6. Bring an ICAHD-USA speaker to your area. We have people available with a variety of experience who can come and give a talk or slideshow about the issue of house demolitions and facts on the ground in Israel/Palestine.

Announcing the
Constructing Peace Campaign
With your help, we will rebuild every Palestinian home demolished by the Israeli government in this 40th year of Occupation.

Over 18,000 Palestinian homes have been demolished by the Israeli government as part of a systematic policy to force Palestinians off their own land in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem. The purpose is to:

• make room for expanding Israeli settlements;
• construct a 26-foot high “wall” that cuts deep into Palestinian territory;
• creat a network of Israeli-only bypass roads;
• and generally “thin” Jerusalem of its Palestinian inhabitants.

95% of these house demolitions have absolutely nothing to do with preventing acts of violence. What they do is fuel the rage and despair of the families in their path.

BUILD HOUSES. BUILD PEACE.
If there is to be any hope for peace in the region, this violation of human rights and dignity must stop. What can we do?

ICAHD-USA (The Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions-USA) is proud to announce our Constructing Peace Campaign. Together we will show non-violent opposition to the injustice of Occupation, take concrete action to restore human rights and dignity, build bridges of peace between Israelis and Palestinian, and prove that people here in the U.S. want a just peace.
