This May marks the 60th anniversary of the “birth of Israel.” The event is celebrated in Israel as the Israeli Day of Independence and is mourned in Palestine as the day of al-Nakba (the catastrophe). Dr. Halper will discuss the potential for reconciliation between these peoples whose lives have been impacted in starkly opposing ways by the outcomes of the 1948 War.
